Medical Student Education on Buprenorphine Framework

Overview

This month we focused on completing round 2 of the summative evaluation and analyzing the data.

Progress During November 2008

Milestone 1

Report on Round 2 of the summative evaluation

  • Gather Data. Competency, interpersonal skills, knowledge, attitude, intended behavior, self-efficacy and satisfaction data were gathered on the next 18 participants who completed all steps of the evaluation.
  • Analyze Data. Skills increased in all areas, knowledge increased from pre to post-test, attitude, intended behavior, self-efficacy and satisfaction were all significant at the .05 level.

Milestone 2

Continue recruiting students

  • Ad. We received tremendous response from the ad in the New Physician and several individuals referred their friends.

Milestone 3

Coordinate with other projects on how to conduct the SP chats

  • Developed drupal page- "Guide to doing SP chats at CTI"
  • Answered questions, developed reports as needed

Work to be Performed in the Next Reporting Period, December 2008

Milestone 1

Work with Alcohol medical student team to make both projects successful

  • Share knowledge with alcoholMS team on developing a case for the SP patient
  • Follow-up with interested schools and introduce them to the alcohol treatment curriculum

Milestone 2

Begin Round 3 of the Summative evaluation

  • Co-workers on other medical student projects will complete simulated patient chats
  • Analyze competency data question by question in order to update rater/case as appropriate
